This song is so classic that one would think it became boring to play it… on the contrary, I always enjoy jamming it.
It’s actually fairly simple to play but the song’s groove when you’re playing that C power-chord is just insane! We played it right at the beginning of the second set of our 10th anniversary gig at POW, the crowd just went mad. I wish we had this gig on tape… The solo is a part of the song that I enjoy playing, really cool to play alternating simple licks, bit of tapping and some speed scaling towards the end, another great EVH production.
This video was shot recently during one of our practices at LiveAmp studios in Singapore. Not my best attempt but the only one I have on video!
And yes, my haircut sucks.

Hey folks!
It has been a while for sure… but I’m back from the lazy-lair and intend to restart posting regularly. Life has been rather full lately, a lot on the plate, at work, at play and especially in the music department. Whack Daddy Down is still going strong and just celebrated its 10th anniversary with a phenomenal gig at the Prince of Wales and a spanking original track available on iTunes. Quite amazing how easy it is these days to record something at home and post it for a (tiny) fee on the major online music stores. We spent a few hours with Eric Wong (great service!) at Sonic Studio in Singapore to record ‘Queen of Saturday Night’ which we then sent for mastering to Abbey Road (yes!) after I attempted to mix it the best I could at home.
Recordings of my original material has been also making some progress with a few songs in the making. Hopefully a bit more time and I believe I’d be able to release a few tracks in the coming months.
Since beginning of 2011, ‘MatterFour’ has been born, a different concept… very rock… and we have been trying to put a setlist together. We should be able to go for a few auditions around fall, things take time but quality has a price =]
That’s it for the first short update, more news to come and I hope to see a lot of you at our next gig on Friday at the POW, of course.

I’ve finally gotten my hands on a cabinet to complete my rig… and I have to say it makes a HUGE difference. The sound is just mind-blowing. The gain of the Triaxis through the Carvin is just pure pleasure for the ears, absolute bliss.
Anyways, can’t wait to try that setup live for the first time at the Tanglin Club in 2 weeks, this should rock big time…

Had quite a productive afternoon today working on ‘Violently Happy’, a song by fellow musician and good friend Ke’es.
Jammed the original acoustic version and came up with something, well… quite different. Onto vocals and refinements this week before giving that song a public try… looking forward to comments indeed!

June 2001 has seen the birth of Whack Daddy Down.
June 2011 will hopefully see the 10th anniversary gig, massive mega-production that we intend to be remembered as legendary as it can get. Expect the unexpected.
Anyways, I’m quite excited by the prospect of this gig and think we should start planning right away… venue… costumes, etc. Stay tuned for updates.
In the mean time, you can still catch us at the POW on Feb 25th.

Been fairly busy these past few… months! Yeah I know, not much blogging…
Anyhow, things have been really great over here and quite rollercoaster-style I have to say. The music has been phenomenal. A lot of new projects on the way with some of them in a very active stage.

So the other day, I had my first modeling experience!!!! A photographer friend of mine asked me if I would be keen to participate in his “Calling the shots” series on Facebook. Basically, the concept is to shoot normal people with a quirky or slightly offbeat attitude… I let you judge of my appearance but remember… it’s NOT EASY!
