Omoide

ParisIt all started in Tokyo where I spent a few days visiting a great friend of mine earlier in December. The trip took an unexpected musical turn, full of memories, amazing laughs and unreal connection.

Now it’s gone, always too soon, and we only have memories left. Sounds. Images. Japanese people call this reminiscence “omoide”. I like that word. It’s round, calm and peaceful.

Soon after, a new musical collaboration project was born from those memories as we meet again in Paris a few days ago and decide to write a song for my friend’s love. She sings beautifully and I’m very excited with the idea of writing music for someone’s voice in mind. I have quite some a number of unfinished songs and ideas that need polishing and a bit of rework and I can’t wait to fly back to start digging into those archives.

It will finally be a few songs and not only one.

Omoide.
